Alternative protein VC fund, Lever VC, closed recently its first fund with $23 million in commited capital.
The fund invests in early-stage plant-based and cell-based startups and alternative protein companies in general.
With the increasing demand for protein globally, alternative proteins may have a serious value proposition and decrease the demand for land and water resources as well as generating less greenhouse gas emissions.
Startups across the US, Asia and Europe are creating a $5 bn plant-based meat industry and a $17 bn plant-based dairy industry. The plant-based dairy market is expected to grow over $40bn by 2025 alone.
